A pintura é o eixo central da produção de Michele Martines. Geralmente a artista investe na intertextualidade para elaborar suas obras. Seu trabalho versa sobre questões relativas à construção da identidade vinculada ao espaço habitado e a cultura de consumo. Iniciou sua produção pesquisando sobre apropriação e manipulação de imagens preexistentes na pintura contemporânea. Trabalhou com a inserção da palavra na obra junto à imagem e com a apropriação de figuras femininas inseridas em seus espaços íntimos. Também experimentou a expansão do quadro na parede, investigando a contraposição de diferentes concepções espaciais .
Natural do interior do Rio Grande do Sul, foi através de residências artísticas, observando cotidianos distintos, que interessou-se pelo espaço urbano, refletindo sobre as transformações na paisagem construída pelo homem para viver. Neste processo, as cabines de telefones públicos (Orelhões) chamaram a atenção da artista. A remoção do objeto das ruas, devido ao desuso, possibilitou-lhe a apropriação como suporte para a pintura, realizando intervenções urbanas e instalações incorporando as peças ao ambiente expositivo. Nas telas, Martines coleta e recombina imagens da paisagem urbana, compondo trabalhos que versam sobre temas relativos ao lugar, colocando questões de ordem social e antropológica vinculadas à cultura contemporânea.
Michele Martines nasceu em 1982, em Montenegro, Rio Grande do Sul. É mestre em Artes Visuais pela Universidade Federal de Santa Maria - UFSM (2010) e graduada pela Universidade Estadual do Rio Grande do Sul - UERGS (2005). Recentemente realizou a exposição “Nichos Urbanos”, Fundarte, e obra de arte pública “Frutos da Ligação” (2022 e 2021), Montenegro RS; as exposições coletivas: “Ser Vivo, Livre, Eu”, na Galeria Café (2021), em São Paulo; “Coletivo Cor”, na Galeria Lemos de Sá (2021), em Belo Horizonte; “Dissoluções Transitórias”, Sala Carriconte (2019), UFSM, Santa Maria. Recebeu prêmios como Prêmio Funarte Descentrarte (2020), Prêmio DasArtes (2015), Concurso Itamaraty de Arte Contemporânea (2012), e Salão Jovem Artista (2008). Realizou residência artística no CAMAC, Marnay-sur-Seine (2011) e no R.A.T., Cidade do México (2013). Suas obras integram acervos de instituições como: MARGS - Museu de Artes do Rio Grande do Sul, Porto Alegre, Brasil; Itamaraty, Brasília DF, Brasil; Museu Provincial Timóteo Navarro, Tucumán, Argentina; MACRS - Museu de Arte Contemporânea do Rio Grande do Sul, Porto Alegre, Brasil; entre outros.
Painting is the central axis of Michele Martines' production. Generally, the artist invests in intertextuality to elaborate her works. Her work deals with issues related to inhabited space and consumer culture. Michele began her career researching the appropriation and manipulation of preexisting images in contemporary painting. She worked with the insertion of the word in the work together with the image and with the appropriation of female figures inserted in their intimate spaces. She also expanded the painting on the wall, investigating the opposition of different spatial concepts.
Born in a small town in southern Brazil, it was through artistic residencies, and observing different daily lives, that she became interested in urban space. It reflects on the transformations in the landscape built by human beings to live. In this process, the booths of Brazilian public telephones caught the artist's attention. The removal of the object from the streets, due to disuse, made it possible to appropriate it as a support for painting, carrying out urban interventions and installations incorporating the pieces into the exhibition environment. On canvas, Martines collects and recombines images of the urban landscape, composing works that deal with themes related to the place, raising questions of a social and anthropological nature linked to contemporary culture.
